How an assignment works
Assigning a .fr domain follows four clear steps. Everything happens on the platform;
email is used only for notifications and confirmation.
- Offer & discussion. You make an offer or an enquiry from the domain page. After confirming your email, a conversation opens: offers, counter-offers and messages are kept end to end.
- Assignment contract. Once agreed, an assignment contract is generated (parties, domain, price excl. VAT, VAT treatment, AFNIC transfer terms) and accepted in one click. The PDF is emailed to both parties.
- Payment. Payment is secured by Stripe. Up to €3,000 incl. VAT the full amount is paid online; above that, a deposit reserves the domain and the balance is settled by bank transfer on a ma2t invoice. The transfer never starts before funds are received.
- AFNIC transfer. You choose to stay with ma2t (holder change, the fastest) or to transfer to your own registrar with an authorization code. Status is tracked to completion.
Indicative timelines
Discussion: immediate. Contract: same day. Payment: instant by card, 1–3 business days by transfer. AFNIC transfer: minutes to a few days depending on the option chosen.
